SVGABA honours Teofilo Stevenson

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Amateur Boxing Association presented a Plaque to Teofilo Stevenson on Saturday, 25th, April 2009, at the Greggs Playing Field, where he was attending an NOC Grassroots Talent Identification Programme training session organised by the association.{{more}}

The Award Of Merit, which was presented by Winston Telesford, President of the SVGABA, acknowledged the outstanding achievements Stevenson has made to the sport of Amateur boxing. Stevenson expressed his gratitude in receiving the award and also expressed his proud heritage and patriotism to St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

In addition to giving boxing tips to the group of young boxers present, he emphasised to the young athletes the importance of staying in school and obtaining a good education while learning the sport of amateur boxing. He expressed his desire to assist the association and its athletes to ensure the further development of the sport in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Also attending the presentation were the National Director of Sports, Nelson Hillocks, and two members of Sevenson’s family.
