Victors One made it three in a row when they won the National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams competition last Sunday at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

Victors, chasing the 100 for 7,off their 20 overs, scored by arch rivals MVC Rivals, reached 101 for 6 with two balls to spare, in a battle of the heavyweights of local Cricket.

Donson Andrews, 32, Donwell Hector, 24 and MVP Of the final Keiron Cottoy, 23, shepherded their team to a third straight title in as many years of the competition.

When Rivals batted, Harley Skerritt made 40, Hector bagged 3 for 20, and Alston Bobb, 2 for 14.

It was a revenge for Victors, who suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Rivals in the preliminary round.

Rivals also pipped Victors One to the finish line in the RBTT Premier Division league competition.

It was a weekend of nerves for Victors, who on Saturday afternoon left it up to the last over to gain the final berth.

After ECGC Radcliffe scored 75, Victors reached 76 for 6, with only three balls to spare, in a tense final three overs.

Dellorn Johnson had 2 for 14, and Drumo Toney, 2 for 19, bowling for Radcliffe.

In Radcliffe’s innings, Cottoy snared 3 for 23, Bobb, 2 for 9, Ian Allen, 2 for 10, and Norlan Williams, 2 for 18.

It was a much easier passage for Rivals, who demolished Eat Rite Saints by nine wickets, Saturday morning. Saints scored a paltry 47, not helped by four run outs, as Marvin Small bagged 4 for 8, to which Rivals responded with 48 for 1. Renrick Williams scored 23.

Victors One for earning the top prize collected $3000, Rivals $2000, and the two losing semi finalists ECGC Radcliffe and Eat Rite Saints, both pocketed $750 each.

A six, hit by Rivals’ Hyron Shallow, earned him the play of the day. (RT)
