Sion Hill Playing Field Management Committee named

A broad based Management Committee, comprising persons from the Sion Hill community, has been charged with the responsibility of liasing with the National Sports Council, in respect of the administration, maintenance and management of the facilities of the Sion Hill Playing Field.{{more}}

Also, the committee has the task of making recommendations to the NSC in respect of the development and upgrading of the facilities.

Manager of the Council, Osbourne Browne, along with Ian Allen, last week Tuesday held a meeting with the committee, updating its members on their mandate.

The NSC appointed Rohan Thomas as Chairman of the committee, with other members being Joel Poyer, Kenrick Whyttle, Sylvia Clarke, Claudia Williams, Fernella Woodley, Randy Patrick, Donald Peters, Ezekiel Clarke, Cindy Lavia and a representative from the Sion Hill Government School.

Browne told the members that the field was now fully available to the general public, but moreso for the Sion Hill area communities, including the Sion Hill Government School.

The Sion Hill Management Committee will meet early next month to elect the other officers.

The Sion Hill, the Stubbs and the Arnos Vale One and Two Playing Fields underwent extensive renovations, including the laying down of sand based outfields.

These facilities were done to host four teams, Australia, Bermuda, England and Zimbabwe, as practice and warm up venues ahead of last year’s Cricket World Cup.(RT)
