No fete for Vincy teams

Last weekend, two of the three Vincentian teams in the Brooklyn Cricket League were in losers’ row as the competition intensified.

Imperial lost both of their matches. On Saturday, Imperial lost to Shaheen by 25 runs. Shaheen batted first and scored 163 all out.{{more}}

Sos Ross and Omar Abjan had the main scores of 54 and 41 runs, respectively.

Orient Bostic, 4 for 42, and former St Vincent and the Grenadines player Clarence Wyllie taking 2 for 11.

In reply, Imperial made 138 all out, Orient Bostic, 47, Stanley Stephens, 19, and Mike Providence, 17, were not enough to save Imperial.

Sunday was again a down time for Imperial against Scorpions.

Imperial, 202 for 6 in 36 overs, with Bostic hitting 103 not out. Former St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Windwards middle order batsman Colville Browne hit 24, Kelly Payne, 23, and Providence, 17, were the main contributors in the batting department.

Scorpions responded with 203 for 6 in 35.3 overs. Byron Mars took 2 for 41.

Andy Douglas, Terrence Clarke, Mark Lawrence and Browne took one wicket each.

Imperial so far has four wins, three losses and one match to be replayed.

Like Imperial, Stars United also lost both matches.

Cavaliers’ match against Punjab was not played and the outcome of that game is still to be decided.

The weather that has been a major factor in the outcome of matches over the previous three weekends also contributed to the disruption in last weekend’s matches.

This weekend’s fixtures have Imperial off, while Stars United facing Punjab on Sunday at Marine Park A and Cavaliers and Grenada doing battle in a much anticipated show down of the 2007 champs and runner up at Marine Park C.
