Radcliffe clips Spartans

ECGC Radcliffe crushed Spartans to take full points at the Stubbs Playing Field last weekend in one of two matches of the RBTT Premier Division of the National Cricket Competition.{{more}}

Radcliffe batted first and posted 130. Lyndon James topped the batting with 40. Nixon McLean, 3 for 21, Kishawn George, 3 for 55, were the top bowlers for Spartans.

Spartans’ innings stopped at 116. Nixon McLean made 35, Omari Benn, 32, as Dyke Cato, 3 for 20, Mahlon John, 2 for 23, ripped through the home side’s batting. Radcliffe, batting a second time, reached 197 for 8 declared, with James making 57, Ozni Billingy 53, Sherwin Mapp, 3 for 69.

Spartans was routed for 58, chasing 212. Hezron Lawrence, 4 for 19, and Mahlon John, 3 for 9, destroyed Spartans’ intended run chase.

ECGC Radcliffe gained 16 points.

And, with a hundred per cent increase in the number of matches in the Premier Division, Victors One gained first innings points over MVC Rivals in a drawn game at Arnos Vale Two.

Victors One scored 172, with Norlan Williams making 31 not out, Kaschaka Cupid hit 30. Orlanzo Jackson took 4 for 41, Jamal Nash, 3 for 23, bowling for Rivals.

The all round ability of Jackson surfaced as he topscored with 35, and Roland Wilkinson, 30, as MVC Rivals responded with 149.

Williams snared 3 for 51, Ian Allen, 2 for 22, and Donwell Hector, 2 for 38,to make certain that Rivals was dismissed below their total .

In Victors ‘ second innings of 123, it saw Donson Andrews making 30. Jackson was again among the wickets, 6 for 46, and Keiron Cottoy, 2 for 10.

Victors One walked away with 8 points and MVC Rivals on 4 points.

In the Bottlers First Division, Digicel Neil Williams Academy defeated Radcliffe Two by 7 wickets after losing on first innings.

Radcliffe Two posted 264. Andy Harper stroked 130 not out. His innings was dotted with 12 fours and 8 sixes. Marcus Castello, 37, and Raphael Pope, 31, were the other principal scorers.

Zane Edwards, continuing his exploits with the ball, took 4 for 38, Mikhail Weeks, 4 for 64, and Lance Weeks, 2 for 20.

Responding, the Academy made 159. Devane Warner again among the runs, made 43, and Ray Charles hit 34. The Academy’s innings was undone by the bowling of Jabari Johnson, who pocketed 8 for 51.

Radcliffe Two declared their second innings at 170 for 4. Verbert King made 65.

Set 276 to win off 35 overs, the fearless Academy youngsters dared and reached their target of 276, losing three wickets in the process off 27 overs. Edwards, 70, Andy Baptiste, 59, Allan -dee Ballantyne, 62, and Warner, 43, as the Academy romped home, with overs and daylight to spare.

Digicel Neil Williams Academy gained 16 points.

Victors Two gained first innings points over PKF Saints in a drawn game.

PKF laboured to Saints 83 with Kelvin Lorraine making 30. Javed Harry had the incredible figures of 7 for 9 bowling for Victors Two.

Victors Two replied with 181. Kurtland Lavia, 48, Javed Harry, 29, Afron Byam, 28. Roger Davis bagged 5 for 39, Asteron Cooper, 3 for 47 . Batting a second time, Saints fared better with 158. Diego Laprimavera, 40, and Amead Bobb, 28. Kevin Abraham, 3 for 34, and Harry, 3 for 39, to finish with match analysis 10 for 48.

Set 61 to win, Victors Two reached 26 for 5.

Victors One 8 points, PKF Saints 4 points.

The other fixtures saw Log Enterprises Masters winning by default over Sion Hill. (RT)
