Primus, Thomas hit century in local Cricket Competition

Vernando Primus and Oneil Thomas were the first centurions in this year’s national cricket competition.

Primus blasted 100 for ASCO and Thomas 102 for Police One .{{more}}

Turning out for first timers ASCO, Primus decorated the Grammar School Playing Field with seven sixes and six fours, to lead his team to 211, against Belmont United, in a Bottlers First Division fixture.

Curtis King, with 3 for 37, and Adolphus Campbell, 2 for 37, were Belmont’s top performers with the ball.

Maxton Hackshaw, 52, King, 34, and Roderick Harry, 32, combined to see Belmont to 283.

Kentish Phillip bagged 4 for 97, Andre Hunte snared 2 for 23, and Primus, 2 for 58.

With a deficit of 72 runs, ASCO batting a second time, went one better on their first innings total; they made 212. Veron Bute compiled 71, and Kenrick Phillip struck 31, as Augustus Mofford bagged 3 for 47 and Campbell, 2 for 34.

Mofford was the top scorer at 29, as Belmont was 110 for 7, at the close of play. Kentish Phillips had figures of 4 for 22, and Primus, 2 for 41.

Belmont collected first innings points.

Thomas’ heroics came in Police One’s second innings at the Arnos Vale Playing Field in the lone match of the RBTT Premier Division.

Thomas’ innings of 102 not out was dotted with six sixes and six fours, as Police One was 199 for 3, when the match was called off.

Police One batted first and made 197. Gosnel Cupid hit 75 not out, Thomas and Marlon France each made 36.

Rolando Wright had figures of 4 for 35 and Othneil Baptiste 3 for 16.

Police Two responded with 283 to take first innings points. Elmore Alexander made 54, Wright posted 52, Baptiste struck 40 and Shacky Green, 32. Maxian Richardson, 2 for 40 and Gerald Gould, 2 for 59, shared the bowling spoils for Police One.

The other match that was scheduled was in the Bottlers First Division at Brighton and was to have brought together Sion Hill and Smashers, but Sion Hill made a no show.(RT)
