SVGBC are the official media sponsors of SOL Motor sports

SVGTV and Hitz FM, part of the SVG Broadcasting Corporation group, on Wednesday became the Official Media Sponsor of the 3-day SOL CO Williams Regional Motor sports Weekend, which commences on Friday, 9th November, and terminates on Sunday, 11th November.{{more}}

SVG Broadcasting Corporation’s Head of Sales and Marketing, Candice Sealey, said ‘Being chosen as the Official Media sponsor is an exciting opportunity during the rebranding process. “We are very pleased to be associated with such an event. We have always been committed to sports, and this is yet another example of how dedicated we are to its showcasing and development, and more so the development of motor sports in the island”.

President of the SVG Automobile Association Art Huggins added: “I am delighted to have SVGTV and Hitz FM on board as the Official Media Sponsor; in the past we have always had problems with getting the event filmed, and having the two stations that offer maximum exposure on board will give the sport the coverage it deserves. With them being on board, along with Sol and CO. Williams, we are sure the event will be a great success”. The three day event is being organized by the St. Vincent & the Grenadines Automobile Association; drivers from St. Vincent and the Grenadines and from Barbados are confirmed to participate, but the Association is still hoping to have drivers from Trinidad and & Tobago. From Barbados, there will be five (5) drivers, each with their own car, including Trevor Manning, the Champion driver in Barbados, known as the ‘Electric Mice’ here in SVG or ‘King of the Loose’ in Barbados.

Friday, 9th November, will see a 6 p.m. start of the Dexterity Event at Diamond, which is open to public participation. Saturday sees a 1:30 p.m. start at Diamond, on the second day of competition, and the final day, Sunday, sees the competition heading to Bequia on the Bequia Express, the official carrier of the event, for a 11 a.m. start, close to the airport. This is the 3rd regional event, and it is hoped that it will continue for years to come. Huggins also expressed his gratitude to DIGICEL for their contribution to the event and his desire to have SOL, CO. Williams, SVGTV, Hitz FM and DIGICEL involved in future motor sports events. He mentioned that next year will be even better, with participation already confirmed from Barbados, Cayman Islands, Grenada and Antigua.
