Action in the National Lotteries Top Belair Softball Cricket Competition continued last weekend, as teams position themselves for the next phase, the round of sixteen.{{more}}

Solidifying its position was 2007 Knock-out champions Novice. They scored an 11-run win over Cool Guys last weekend.

Novice reached 106 for 6 in their 20 overs. Renrick Williams and Kenroy Martin, both struck 24, and Elton Williams made 25 not out.

Noel Carr and Ken Tesheira had two wickets a piece, bowling for Cool Guys. In response, Cool Guys laboured to 95 for 4 in their 20 overs, with Saski Weekes making 37.

Also confirming a berth to the next round was Nice Radio Pine Hill Clinchers. Dill Clarke got 49, not out, and Hyron Shallow, 22, as Clinchers reached 127 for 7, against Gomea Bombers.

Ovando O’Brien, 3 for 20, and Ellsworth Abbott, 2 for 25, were the main wicket takers for the Bombers.

At their turn at the crease, Bombers was dismissed for 78 in 19.5 overs. National player Donwell Hector, 4 for 10, and Riley Byron, 3 for 20, did the demolition job.

Similarly, Shot Callers strangled survivors.

Shot Callers’ total of 139 for 7 saw Fitz Patrick De Souza scoring 34, Terrance Patterson, 23, not out, and Raffique Williams, 21.

Survivors was drowned by the bowling of Kenton De Souza, who bagged 4 for 13, and Deron Bute, 3 for 24, as they only survived 9.5 overs, to reach 45 all out.

And, the pattern continued when Street Lighters met Under Dogs.

Two unbeaten innings by Keon Boyea, 42, and Augustine McDowald, 33, pushed Street Fighters to 129 for 4, in their allotted 20 overs. Raymond Sayers was Under Dogs’ best bowler, with figures of 3 for 19.

Responding, Under Dogs was dismissed for 64 in 13.4 overs, as Shawn Frank and Delroy Johnson had two wickets to their credit.

Another exciting weekend is envisaged at the Dauphine Playing Field, as the competition marches on.

Ethiopia and Vipers meet from 1:30 pm on Saturday, to be followed by the meeting between Owia Shottaz and Simple Boys Two from 3:30.

On Sunday, from 9:30 am, Punishers are set to face RLP Zenga.

Fair Hall Falcons and Simple Boys One go at each other from 12:30pm. The weekend is capped off with Strugglers and Cool Guys slated to battle from 3:30pm.
