X-cel Tennis academy annual Easter tournament climaxes


X-cel Tennis Academy held its Annual Easter Tournament from April 13 to 21, 2007, at the National Lottery Sporting Facility, Richmond Hill. Twenty-five girls and boys took part in the under 14’s and under 18’s categories. Over 50 matches were played during this period using the knockout format.{{more}}

The girls under 14 saw Siara Goodluck emerging winner over Sydelle Harris, 6-2, 6-2, with Symich Ollivierre taking the third spot from Abanie Edwards. Boys under 14’s saw Xeno Daize winning from Bradni Black, 6-2, 6-4, with Jrai Joyette gaining the edge over Aaron Saunders, 6-2, 6-4. The boys 18’s went to Shane Latchman, who won from Michael Stowe, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5, with Dujoh Ollivierre taking third place over Brent De Freitas. The most promising player was Aaron Saunders, with Brent De Freitas being named the most improved player.

X-cel Tennis Academy sponsored this tournament as part of its development programme. At the closing, the coaches, Samantha Goodluck and Kebakjah King, thanked the National Lottery Board for the use of the facility and Tony Boyea for agreeing to officiate at the closing ceremony, which was his first official function since being elected president of the SVGTA.
