Trimmingham stars in National Masters Cricket

A stroke filled 95 by Frederick Trimmingham was the highlight of the latest round of the National Masters cricket competition last weekend.

Trimmingham’s innings decorated with fifteen fours, pushed the struggling Dasent Cottage to 155 for 3 in their 20 overs. Winston Knights chipped in with 22, as Pat Warner bagged 2 for 20.{{more}}

But Dasent Cottage’s total proved insufficient as Arnos Vale romped home at 156 for 7 with ten balls to spare. Monty Warner 40, Linton Lewis 22 and Julian Jack 20 secured victory for Arnos Vale. Trimmingham named Man of the Match, followed up his batting exploits with 3 for 33 and Simeon Alexis 2 for 11 in a losing cause.

Barrouallie recorded a ten-wicket win over South Leeward. Barrouallie responding to South Leeward’s 114 reached 117 without loss. Former St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Windwards and Combined Islands opening batsman hit 61 not out and Kendol Douglas 37.

Rozendale Francis who took 4 for 24 assisted by Chester Hendrickson 2 for 13 and Winston Hazelwood 2 for 32, when South Leeward batted first set up Barrouallie’s win.

Rain reduced the Central Leeward versus Mr. Cool clash to ten overs. Central Leeward made 67 for 5,with a topscore of 20 from Earl Jack. Mr. Cool reached 71 for 1. Orville Franklyn made 26 and Collin Shoy 21.

Kingstown triumphed over North Windward by 8 runs. Kingstown batting first made 137 for 8 in their 20overs. Bradley Brooker led the way with 38,as Lauren Baptiste picked up 3 for 30bowling for North Windward. Brooker then bagged 2 for 32 and Joseph Medford 3 for 21 as North Windward were dismissed for 16. Osbourne Jordon 24 and Montgomery Daniel 16 were the principal contributors in that total.

In a low scoring match Police were routed for 20,to which Ajuba responded with 21 without loss. Reginald Jeffery 3 for 3 and Lenlif Hector 2 for 2 took advantage of the law officers who fielded eight players.

But in a close encounter, the defending champion Belfongo were stretched by P’tani Masters.Belfongo compiled 159 for 7. Curtis King topscored with 45, Urias King 36 and Theodore Huggins 24 were the principal scorers. Adolphus Mofford took 2 for 27.

P’tani came within ten runs of toppling the unbeaten Belfongo, as they halted their victory chase at 149. Augustus Mofford made 33 and Alfred Mc Kenzie 23. Aaron Bascombe was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 39.
