Samuels denies India police claim

West Indies all-rounder Marlon Samuels has denied passing information to a bookmaker before a one-day defeat by India in Nagpur last month.

“I have not done anything wrong,” Samuels told the Times of India paper.{{more}}

On Wednesday, Indian police claimed to have tapes of Samuels revealing team information but added that there was no evidence of money being involved.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has passed the police report on to the International Cricket Council.

An ICC spokesman said: “As a rule of thumb we do not comment on any activities our Anti-Corruption and Security Unit may be involved in.

“If we had any comments they would not be made until we have had time to read and digest any report that the Nagpur police may have compiled.”

A West Indies Cricket Board spokesman said it would investigate once information was received from the BCCI.

“We are not going to act on rumour or gossip and won’t be panicked,” he said.

He added that the WICB had a zero-tolerance policy on gambling.
