Runners off their mark in Canouan road race

The members of Team Athletics St. Vincent and the Grenadines (TASVG), held their first ever Road Race on the island of Canouan on Sunday January 28.

A total of 32 persons were all geared up and ready to show forth their competitive talents in the races to gain top positions in the different categories.{{more}}

Starting with the under 9 female category, young Denika Garraway of Canouan Primary School ran away with the first place while Tiana Simmons took the second position and Melissa Snagg had to settle for the third. In the male category, Kirk Garraway took the first position with Nartya Pomey coming in second and Frank Harry placing third.

In the 9-11 female category, Adero Da Silva captured the first position with Rea Laidlow placing second and Withney Snagg third. In the male division, Roberto Stephens won the first place prize with Corlin Laidlow and Erasto Da Silva coming in second and third respectively.

Shantel De Roche was the female enjoying the honours in the 12-14 category; Natasha Da Silva came in second and Angelina Mitchell settled for the third position. In the male category, Bernard Joseph took the first position, Kyle De Roche placed second and Meshach Pomey third.

Doing the open category, Joel Hoyte took the third position with Angus Garraway placing second and Rohan Snagg taking the third position.

On the 7 and 19 of this month, the Technical Director of the TASVG will be conducting training sessions for Kids In athletics (KIA) and according to them for this new year they will be paying more attention to the development of athletics in the Grenadines.
