Jaromir Charles was crowned Boys Under-14 champion. Completing Grenada’s bounty of winners were Lois Alexis, the Girls Under-18 singles winner and the combination of Aaron Moses and Jamal Charles secured the Boys Doubles among the Under-14. Charles was also adjudged the Most Improved Male.

The Vincentians were in winners’ row in three divisions. Petite Mitchell Gun-Munroe took away the Girls Under-14 Singles title, with Halimah Michael and Daneya triumphing in the Under-14 doubles. Gun-Munroe added the Most Improved Female award to her growing list of tennis successes.

The other title which went the Vincentians’ way was the Girls Under-18 doubles through the combined efforts of Roxanne Russell and Danielle Cupid.

The tournament which ran from December 11 to 16 also saw participation from Antigua and Barbuda and St. Lucia was held for the second year, and attracted attracted 53 young tennis players.

There was a marked decrease in the number with sub regional territories as the dates clashed with examinations hindering some players’ participation.

Also the high air fare around this time of year proved prohibitive to some who had earlier expressed interest.

Last Saturday’s presentation ceremony was addressed by President of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tennis Association Grant Connell, President of the National Olympic Committee Trevor Bailey and Peter George, a representative of the sponsor Milo.
