Junior body-building champ out of prison

BARBADIAN BODYBUILDER Andre Miller, the reigning Barbados and Caribbean junior bodybuilding champion jailed in Jamaica on drug charges, is back home.

The 20-year-old former Mr Schoolboy returned home Tuesday evening on a BWIA flight at 5:35 pm.

Miller, who was caught in October trying to smuggle 20 pounds of marijuana out of Jamaica in a suitcase, was sentenced to three months’ hard labour and a fine of BDS$5 000. If the fine wasn’t paid, the sentence was to increase to 12 months and additional fines of JAM$15 000 for possession, $54 000 for dealing and $96 000 for exporting. {{more}}

When the MIDWEEK NATION visited his Parris Gap, Westbury Road, St Michael home, a relative said he was there but declined to comment. When later contacted by telephone, Miller refused to comment.

He was in Jamaica attending the 34th Central American and Caribbean Championships in Kingston when the incident occurred. (Nation Newspaper)
