ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 has lauded the swift action of the Jamaica Local Organising Committee (LOC) in determining an alternative travel plan to Trelawny, Jamaica, for the ICC Venue Tour amid flight delays on November 21, 2006.

In fact, ICC CWC 2007 Venue Development Director, Don Lockerbie, said it is “this type of decisiveness and resolve to find solutions to various challenges that must continue to be the hallmark of the Caribbean’s preparations for the Cricket World Cup”.{{more}}

On Tuesday morning, the ICC Venue Tour – comprising almost 40 officials representing major Event stakeholders – was stuck at Norman Manley International Airport after repeated flight delays by Air Jamaica. The party was to have flown from Kingston to Montego Bay en route to touring Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium which will host the Opening Ceremony and a series of Warm-up matches for ICC CWC 2007.

However, with no resolution in sight to the flight problems, the LOC sourced a luxury bus to take the officials – led by police escort – to and from Trelawny. The group left Kingston at 9 am and arrived at their destination shortly after 11 am.
