SVG Under-16 Netballers

St Vincent and the Grenadines Under-16 netballers will make another bid to regain the Caribbean Netball Association CNA title in Trinidad and Tobago November 24 to December 1.

The Vincentians’ lone triumph at this level was recorded in 1999 in Barbados.

The championships renamed after former Trinidad and Tobago ace shooter Jean Pierre (deceased), will be held at the Complex also named in her honour.{{more}}

A 12-member team, along with two officials leave here next Thursday to compete against eight other countries from the region. The team will be trying to dethrone the defending champion Barbados.

Jovonne John, a member of both the senior and Under-23 nationals teams, captains the team.

She along with Vice-captain Shanique De Shong, Shellisa Davis, Rochel Franklyn and Tahesha Warner form the core of those to feature in the attacking third.

The position of center will be shared between Afeisha Robinson and Keronna Samuel.

Tonique Bowens, Shrieka Barker, Danelia Williams, Marsha Duncan and Bownie Allicot are the defense players making the trip.

St Vincent and the Grenadines’ opener will be against Grenada November 24. The following day they meet St Kitts. They play the host November 26, Barbados November 27, Jamaica November 28, St Lucia November 29, and will meet Dominica on the morning of November 30, and Antigua and Barbuda in the afternoon of that same day.

Former St. Vincent and the Grenadines defence player Kenlyn Clouden is the team’s coach with Woodrow Williams as manager.

Godfrey Harry, a former national netball coach travels as an umpire chosen from the CNA pool.
