Coulls Hill Rangers upset Somerset in North Leeward 20/20

Coulls Hill Rangers, Zone One fourth place team in the preliminary round, created an upset in the Vinlec North Leeward 20/20 cricket competition last Saturday. Rangers beat Somerset, the Zone Two winner by 13 runs.

Rangers won the toss and batted stubbornly to reach 117 for 9 off 20 overs. Osmond Shallow 20, Omaro Mars 20, were the main run getters for Rangers.{{more}}

Desroy Edwards 4 for 20 was the chief wicket taker.

Somerset fell for 104 off 18 overs.

Bishon Williams 20 led the scoring for Somerset.

Orlanzo Simmons turned in a hostile spell of fast bowling taking 5 for 17 to put paid to Somerset’s charge.

Rangers’ victory caused a response from Somerset. They have written to the North Leeward Sports Association protesting the result of that game

According to the North Leeward Sports Association, the matter would be referred to a Hearing Committee.

In another match played Saturday, Winterset scored 95 off 15 overs, and overcame Troumaca United by 30 runs.

Christopher Trumpet 30 was the top scorer for Winterset.

Troumaca United floundered for 65 off 14.2 overs.

Emil Anthony 22 was the only batsman to put up resistance.

Ajuba 148 for 6 off 20 overs, beat Future Stars by 68 runs in Sunday’s fixture.

Alfie Gould 32 not out, Reginald Jeffery 26 not out, and David Ellis 27, were among the runs for Ajuba.

Tarquin Roberts 3 for 22 was the best bowler for Future Stars.

Future Stars replied with 80 all out off 17.5 overs. Coboy Caesar 3 for 12 was the best bowler for Ajuba.

Peto Stars maintained their one hundred percent record with a four-wicket win over Smokey.

Smokey made 154 for 7 off 20 overs. William Edwards 49, Osman Caesar 40, were the batsmen among the runs.

Ronique Laborde 3 for 11 did the damage for Peto Stars.

Peto Stars replied with 155 for 6 off 19.3 overs.

Teshern Lavia 46 and Sheldon Hooper 32 were the leading batsmen for Peto Stars.

Mayor Edwards 4 for 26 had good figures for Smokey.
