Leeward 20/20 cricket at quarterfinal stage


The Vinlec North Leeward 2020 Cricket Tournament reaches its quarterfinals stage this weekend.

Eight teams advanced to the knockout segment of the competition, which would be played Saturday 16 and Sunday 17.{{more}} Four teams will pack their bags for the next season while the other four would be in the semi finals 23 September. The final is scheduled for Sunday 24 September. That would be followed by presentation ceremony.

Tomorrow Saturday, Somerset plays Coulls Hill Rangers at 11:00 AM, followed by a Winterset/Troumaca United showdown.

Sunday at 10:00 AM Ajuba takes on Future Stars, then hometeams

Peto Stars and Smokey battle for the other semifinal berth.

Ajuba achieved back to back wins last weekend.

They beat Troumaca United by 25 runs, then secured a two-wicket win over Smokey.

Ajuba recovered from being 47 for 7 in 15 overs to pose a total of 121 all out in 20 overs. This was owing to single-handed effort by Alfie Gould 55.

Javon Samuel 3 for 31 was the most successful bowler for Troumaca.

Troumaca struggled to 96 all out off 17 overs. Emil Anthony top scored with 27.

They were kept in check by Casnel Morris 4 for 16, supported by Alfie Gould with a good all round performance taking 3 for 12.

In the second game, Ajuba kept up their momentum to dismiss Smokey for 61 off 11 overs. Gemmel Jeffery was the pick of the bowlers returning figures of 4 for 8.

Ajuba however made heavy weather in getting to their total of 62 for 8 off 13 overs.

Mayor Edwards offered some hope to Smokey with figures of 3 for 5.
