Regional Netball shoots off in Keartons

The Central Leeward district of Keartons would be the venue for a regional Netball Tournament. That’s where the 15th Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Netball tournament is scheduled to take place. The tournament opens Sunday August 27 with an opening ceremony at 4 p.m. {{more}}

Addresses are expected from Deputy Prime Minister Sir Louis Straker, Sports Minister Glen Beache, OECS Sports Coordinator David Peterkin, ECCB’s Local Agency Manager Isaac Solomon, and Netball Association President Doris McIntosh.

The on court action features a St.Kitts/Nevis versus Dominica clash, followed by an SVG/Antigua/Barbuda showdown. The tournament winds up Friday September 1 when defending champion St. Lucia and SVG meet.

This is the first time that such an event is being staged so far from the city.

Ongoing works at Arnos Vale Complex, in preparation for the staging of Warm-Up matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 has rendered that compound out of use.

SVG missed out on the American Federation of Netball Association’s (AFNA) tournament when they drew with Barbados 46 apiece, but lost out on goal average.

McIntosh anticipates the majority of the squad to comprise of players who took part in that competition.
