Porter carries Ajuba Masters to victory

The SVG Masters Cricket tournament resumes July 15. Teams would be vying for semifinal places on the competition.

Ajuba Masters enhanced their prospects of a place with a seven-wicket win over Kingstown last Sunday at Keartons. Powered by Man of the Match David Porter, 57 not out, Ajuba replied with 98 for 3 in 11.2 overs. Conroy Ryan, 22, also contributed to the Ajuba total.{{more}}

The score was in response to Kingstown’s 94 for six from 18 overs. Albert Samuel, 25 not out and Brian Alexander, 24, were among the runs for Kingstown. Federal Jeffery, 3 for 19, from four overs was the chief wicket taker for Ajuba.

Barrouallie Masters, steered by Rouzendal ‘Bouncer’ Francis, 23, and 4 for 19, secured an easy 77-run victory over South Leeward. Barrouallie made 137, with Alban Bulze, 25, being the top scorer. They were aided by 49 Extras.

G. Cordice, 3 for 7, from two overs, and E. Delpesche, 3 for 17, from four overs were the chief wicket takers for South Leeward. They crashed for 60 from nine overs and one ball.

Twelve teams in two zones are taking part in the inaugural competition. The first-placed winners take home $1,200 and the second-place takes home $800.
