Masters mentor youngsters

Youngsters attached to the Neil Williams Coaching Academy will be finding mentors from the SVG Masters Cricket Tournament. This is one of the spillovers of the newly-created competition.

The decision was announced last Saturday during the opening session of the competition at Calliaqua. {{more}}And as evidence of their commitment, Richard Todd, on behalf of the Masters, handed over cricket gears to two youngsters from the Academy. Aticus Browne, a 14-year-old allrounder of Emmanuel High School Marriaqua was recognised as one with potential and was rewarded for his talent. He was presented with a cricket bat.

Mikhail Weekes, a 15-year-old St. Vincent and the Grenadines Grammar school student received a similar reward.

The Masters Tournament emerged from some friendly matches between the Arnos Vale, Barrouallie, Spring Village and Mr. Cool teams.

A national Masters squad is expected to be selected on the basis of performances in this competition and according to Ces McKie, one of the organisers of the tournament, the team will tour the Grenadines and other neighbouring Caribbean islands.
