Green to play in Deloitte Cayman Sevens tourney

In keeping with the current selection criteria, West Indies players who are overseas and eligible for selection have not been selected. {{more}}

West Indies Head Coach, Joe Whipple, noted that the Cayman’s Sevens “provides the opportunity for world class match experience which is currently lacking from our sevens program, in preparing for competition at the more high level sevens tournaments. We will face some of the finest players in the world. For the new faces in the team, they won’t be given the luxury of getting comfortable. They will need to compete from the opening whistle.”

Funds to attend the tournament are being provided by the West Indies Rugby Union and the Rugby West Indies Sevens sponsors Butterfield Bank and Conyers, Dill and Pearman.

The Deloitte Cayman Sevens boasts some of the best sevens players in the World. The majority of the teams are comprised of players who regularly participate on the IRB’s international Sevens Circuit. The competition takes place on June 9 and 10.

The team is as follows: Hollis Green – St. Vincent, Jeremico Cooper – Bahamas; Antonio Gibbons and Jamie Vernon – Barbados; Damian Pearson – British Virgin Islands; Kevin Mc Kenzie – Guyana and Theodore Henry – Guyana; Jerry Charles – St.Lucia; Jason Clarke and Brendan O’Farrell – Trinidad and Tobago.

The non-traveling reserve is Devon Woodsede – Bahamas.
