Cricket greats visit SVG this weekend

The SVG Cricket Association said on Wednesday that two former West Indies fast bowlers will be in the state this weekend, in relation to the preparation of the country’s squad to participate in the Stanford 20/20 competition.

Expected here today are Joel Garner, a member of the formidable Clive Lloyd West Indies team, and Wes Hall another great fast bowler from the Frank Worrell and Gary Sobers era.{{more}}

Both men will be involved in training sessions on Saturday and Sunday at the Arnos Vale playing field, for all the members of the national squad now in training.

The four coaches attached to the squad will also be involved in the training.

The Association says that the players will receive valuable tips and techniques which will put them in a better position to compete favourably in the competition.

St.Vincent and the Grenadines is participating in the Stanford campaign, which will see some developmental activity for the cricket sector.

These include the construction of a pavilion at the Buccament playing field, and the laying down of ten concrete practice strips at different venues in the country.
