Tennis hunts for more local Level One Coaches

Trevor “Sailor” Bailey, chairman of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), has emphasised the importance of training and coaching. He was speaking at the Old Government Printery Building in Kingstown last Monday. The occasion was the opening of an International Table Tennis Association Coaching programme. The five-day session winds up tomorrow.

Coach Richard McAfee conducted the sessions held mainly for school teachers.{{more}}

The training is aimed at producing at least two more Level One coaches so that they could then move on to the next level.

Bailey expressed optimism that the course would be beneficial. Its success should help get a Coaching Caravan on the road along with sports like cycling, and athletics.

Bailey outlined that a talent identification programme was being undertaken to earmark players for the Central and Caribbean Games scheduled for Cartegena, Columbia.
