Bradshaw, Toussaint victorious in Canouan school sports

The Canouan Govern-ment School held its athletics prize giving ceremony on Thursday, May 4 at the school. Red (Roses) the defending champions retained the championship title with 299 points. They beat Yellow (Sunflower) into second position on 238 points and Green (Grasshopper) occupying the cellar position with 200 points.

Principal Bertina Sandy, in her opening remarks, stressed the importance of sports to the development of the students and for good sportsmanship. {{more}}She also congratulated the winners and also encouraged the others to try harder as team spirit helps to win.

Trophies and medals for the athletics meet were donated by Allan Alexander of Classic Construction and The Canouan Sailing Club.

Jael Bradshaw with 49 points and Lorenzo Toussaint with 28 points both of Sunflower House captured the victrix and victor ludorum titles respectively.

Dale DeRiggs and Carlos McLaurean of the Canouan Sailing Club and Allan Alexander of Classic Construction were on hand and presented the trophies to the athletes.

The top performers in each house were as follows:

Brenton Pompey and Sherry Ann Telemaque were the tops athletes for Roses House with 24 and 19 points respectively.

Secquowond Jacobs and and Deverney Soleyn were the top athletes for Grasshoppers, with 24 and 28 points respectively.

Lorenzo Toussaint and Jael Bradshaw were the top athletes for Sunflower with 28 and 49 points respectively.
