Heroes Day Marathoners receive ROBDA awards

The Rose Bank Development Association (ROBDA) has rewarded its participants in the National Heroes Day Marathon.

On Saturday, April 15, 2006 some 80 persons were given medals for their participation in the Marathon. The participants started out from FitzHughes and ended at Rose Bank. Some 21 trophies were also presented.{{more}}

In the 5 – 12 female age group, Savet Pierre placed first. In the male division, Romell Francois was first. In the 13 – 16 female divison, Sandreka Hooper placed 1st. In the male division, 1st was Rosann Walters. In the 17 plus female division: Sanike Hooper was 1st. Caswin Prince was 1st in the 17 plus male division.

Kallison Ince was awarded for being the youngest runner, Veda Williams for being the oldest runner and a special trophy was presented to disabled participant Laferne Lockhart.

Tribute was paid to Nikkie John, Kelly’s Tyre Shop, Dave Smith Block and Trucking, Oswald Robinson, Errol Edwards and Stewart Louie for their contribution.

There are plans to make next year’s event bigger and better. The Jim Roberts trophy will be competed for annually in rememberance of Carib Chief Jim Roberts who resided at Rose Bank. ROBDA is a community group that is in existence for some 19 years.
