Secondary Schools’ cricket goes into Quarter Final

The 2006 United Insurance Secondary Schools’ Cricket Competition is heading towards the quarter-final stage.

And already some schools have secured their places in this the elimination phase. {{more}}

The North Union Secondary and the Mountain View Academy have booked places from Group A.

St. Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua and the Bequia Community High emerged from Group B. It is the first occasion that a school from that Grenadine Island has advanced to this phase of competition.

The other two groups have keen tussles for the other four places.

The St. Martin’s Secondary, the St. Vincent Grammar School, Dr. JP Eustace Memorial and the Union Island Secondary are in the fray for the two spots from Group C. Group D sees the Campden Park Secondary School almost certainly going through, with the other place to be had by the Petit Bordel Secondary, the Troumaca Secondary, the Barrouallie Secondary, or the Petit Bordel Multi Purpose Centre.

Four centuries have so far been recorded, with the Mountain View’s batsman Donwell Hector accounting for one. In addition, he has struck 95 not out. A seasoned player in the domestic competition, he is showing his worth and experience with both bat and ball.

The other triple digit individual scores were attained by Jerry Olliviere of the Bequia Community High, Joel Jacobs of the St. Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua and Morisson Matthews of the St. Martin’s Secondary.

The quarter -finals are set to begin March 28, with the final slated for April 4.
