Warm up matches are slated for Arnos Vale Playing March 5 to 9 involving Australia, England, Bermuda and Zimbabwe.

Beache expressed the hope that St. Vincent and the Grenadines would be ready to host their events.

His remarks preceded those of his senior colleague, Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade Minister Sir Louis Straker who appeared as “super sub” for Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves. Dr. Gonsalves was in Maylasia at the time.

Sir Louis justified his government’s adjustment of the budget for restorative work at Arnos Vale.

“We had to do our best to make sure that we could live within our means,” Straker declared. Fitz Huggins, Local Organising Committee, lamented that work proposed on the project was scaled back. He urged contractors to “do the job right the first time.”

Huggins is looking forward to a change in their work attitude and their work habits so that Arnos Vale would be ready for the scheduled games.

He noted that the venture would provide opportunities for commerce and he highlighted the social and economic benefits.
