Franklyn Keeps Score Ticking

He has become a veteran in the North Leeward district, but Orville Franklyn does not seem to be giving up his appetite for runs. {{more}}

Centuries for him are nothing new. He slammed one against the very veterans in the Vinlec North Leeward cricket tournament last year.

Last Sunday March 5, Franklyn was again in the three-figure column. He hit 118, and steered the Cool Veterans to an 83 run win over their Central Leeward counterparts from Barrouallie.

Franklyn was the dominant factor in his team’s total of 233 for 7 off their allotted 25 overs.

The Anthony brothers Phillip ‘Tomato,’ 25 and William ‘Kojah’ 29 were the other batsmen with useful contributions.

Sidney ‘Gobells’ Mason 3 for 45 was the most successful Central Leeward bowler.

Mack Quow 36, Vibert Bute 28, and Errol Caesar 25 helped their team to 150 off 19.1 overs. Cuthbert ‘Mr. Cool’ James 3 for 11, Charles Burke 3 for 22 and Irvine Robertson 2 for 11 were among the wickets for North Leeward.

This is the second time that North Leeward has gotten the better of their Central Leeward opponents. Central Leeward lost to Arnos Vale Masters in a triangular tournament which has been unofficially staged.

The challenge has been thrown for what is expected to be a battle for the championship between Cool Veterans and Arnos Vale Masters.
