Jimmy Adams is new WI Under-19 coach

THE WEST INDIES CRICKET BOARD (WICB) has confirmed Jimmy Adams as the new manager for the West Indies Under-19 team for the upcoming International Cricket Council’s Youth World Cup.

Adams, the former Jamaica and West Indies skipper who turned 38 on Monday, takes over from Roger Harper who stepped down last week to be coach of Kenya.{{more}}

Adams’ first role will be to oversee the five-day camp today at the Cricket Development Centre in Couva, Trinidad.

“I’m excited about the role and I’m happy to serve West Indies cricket again,” Adams said. “I am excited to work with the boys and help to guide the next generation of West Indies cricketers.

Zorol Barthley, cricket operations manager of the WICB, confirmed the appointment.

“We have appointed Jimmy because of his leadership skills and knowledge of the game, and what goes on within the game,” Barthley said.

Adams was left-handed batsman and left-arm spinner who played 54 Tests and 127 One-Day Internationals. (NATION)
