Girls’ High, Grammar School top in tennis
The St. Vincent Girls’ High School and the St. Vincent Grammar School dominated the Pepsi Inter-secondary School Tennis Tournament which concluded on Saturday, November 26.
The closing ceremony was held at the National Tennis Centre, Villa.
President of the Tennis Association, Grant Connell, thanked the sponsor Bottlers St. Vincent Ltd. for their continued support of the development of tennis in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. {{more}}
Connell noted that Bottlerâs St. Vincent Ltd. has sponsored this tournament for the last three years, and has been involved in the development of local tennis for the last 30 years. This, he said, indicates the significant contribution to sports made by Bottlers St. Vincent Ltd., and he expressed the hope that other companies in St. Vincent and the Grenadines would follow the leaders. A plaque of appreciation was presented to Brian Perreira of Bottlers.
According to Connell, the association intends to introduce the game to all rural secondary schools in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, so that next year, the tournament would see a significant increase in the number of schools participating.
