Davis sisters do it for Emmanuel

It may be a case of family business for the Davis sisters of the Emmanuel High School Marriaqua.

The combination of Shauna and Shellisa Davis piloted their school to a 46-39 victory over the Troumaca Ontario Secondary School. That was in the senior version of the Vita Malt Secondary School competition that ended at the Kingstown Netball Centre last Wednesday. {{more}}

Shauna sank 31 of her 41 shots, while Most Valuable Player in the final, Shellisha netted 15 from 24. Tamara Samuel, 32 from 50, Andrea Kiel, 6 from 7, and Davine Mason, 1 for 4, scored for Troumaca.

Shauna conceded that it was a hard match.

“The two teams were fighting for victory. We meant that we were not going to give up,” she said.

EHSM had their sights on the championship from the reopening of school September 5.

“We decided to play hard for the entire tournament. We always had the belief that we were going to be on top,” Shauna said.

Coach Marlon Williams was pleased with his team’s performance. He admitted that the squad practised long and hard, and he was happy that the team reaped dividends.

“We knew we had the potential,” Williams stated.
