Coca Cola Football hits quarter-finals stage

The Coca Cola Secondary Schools Football Tournament has reached the quarter final stage.

The semi finalists of the Under-16 competition should have been known by yesterday, when the four quarter final matches were scheduled.

The Under-20 will be decided today with hot favourite and defending champion, the Intermediate High School meeting the St. Clair Dacon Secondary, formerly the Carapan Secondary.{{more}}

Others are seeking semi-final berths. Two of those are the Georgetown Secondary and the Emmanuel High Mespo, who play each other.

Emmanuel High Kingstown take on the Petit Bordel Secondary, with the St. Martin’s Secondary coming up against the Barrouallie Secondary.

Much interest lies in the Under-20 division, as all eyes are on Romano “Smurf” Snagg, who is once more leading the way in goal scoring.

Snagg, a Form 3 student of the Intermediate High School, has so far knocked in 16 goals in four matches.

He hit four against the Union Island Secondary, as his team romped to an 8-2 triumph.

Snagg blasted seven goals against the Bequia Seventh Day Adventist School.

His goals helped his school to a 13-0 thrashing of their opponents.

Snagg began this year’s competition with a single strike versus Emmanuel High Mespo, and followed that up with a quartet against the Bequia Community High, as the Intermediate won 4-1 and 10-0 respectively.

A member of the St.Vincent Motors System 3 Club, Snagg was the top marksman in last year’s competition, netting 20 goals.

His tally was instrumental in his school securing the 2004 title.

A confident Snagg is anticipating surpassing last year’s bounty.
