National Security are sports champs

Public Servants culminated weeks of sporting activities with their annual Inter-Ministerial Sports Day at the Arnos Vale Playing Field last Wednesday.

A day when they traded their computers and other paraphernalia for sporting gear, jumping over obstacles, skipping as well as the traditional races. {{more}}

Government Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and ancillary staffers, all took part in the day’s proceedings.

Although the objective of the day was not on winning, National Security, with a strong contingent from the local constabulary emerged the overall winner, tallying 64 points. Prime Minister’s office docked in second with 52 points. They edged out Ministry of Education by a mere one point.

In events prior to last Wednesday’s activities National Security had dominated both the table tennis and softball cricket disciplines. The Ministry of Tourism and Culture had it all their way in the Football competition.

Transport and Works captured the netball title. The table sports saw Audit Services topping the Pedro competition and Finance securing the Domino segment.

National Security was declared the 2005 champion.

The Sports Day was part of activities to mark Public Service Week.

The week which ends tomorrow, Saturday, with the staging of the Ambassador competition, was held under the “Productivity and Efficiency for a Developing People.”
