Butler invited to WI trials

Deighton Butler has received an invitation from the West Indies Cricket Board to join 29 other players from across the region to make himself available for the forth coming tour of Australia.

This is an opportunity for the left arm seamer who hails from South Rivers to cement his place in the West Indies team. Butler grasped an opportunity to play for the West Indies recently with open arms when he played for a second string West Indies team in the Indian Oil Cup and performed creditably under the conditions.{{more}}

The letters of invitation to the players were accompanied by the draft/match tour contract that the players are required to sign if selected.

The West Indies Cricket Board website stated on Wednesday that the players accepting the invitation are required to sign the letter and return it to the West Indies Cricket Board by 5p.m on September 19.

Team manager, Anthony Howard said a camp had been organized to take place at the 3Ws Oval, Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies in Barbados and the players will assemble from September 24th.

The camp will consist of two days of training sessions followed by a four day game 27th to 30th.

The 30 players invited are: Omari Banks, Carlton Baugh, Tino Best, Ian Bradshaw, Dwayne Bravo, Deighton Butler, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Pedro Collins, Corey Collymore, Narsingh Deonarine, Fidel Edwards, Darren Ganga, Christopher Gayle, Ryan Hinds, Wavell Hinds, Sylvester Joseph, Brian Lara, Jermaine Lawson, Xavier Marshall, Dave Mohammed, Runako Morton, Daren Powell, Denish Ramdin, Marlon Samuels, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Lendl Simmons, Dwight Washington, Devon Smith, Dwayne Smith and Jerome Taylor.
