Peto Stars through to Vinlec cricket final

There will be a new Vinlec North Leeward senior Cricket champion this year. That’s because last year’s winner D’Affairs has been eliminated from this year’s tournament.

One team in line for this year’s trophy is Peto Stars, from the village of Petit Bordel. They secured the first final spot last Sunday with a 23 run win over Ajuba One at Petit Bordel. {{more}}

Peto Stars scored 196 off 32 overs. Adonel Stapleton 49 supported by Rangel Small 21 and 20 each from Sheldon Hooper and Dale Michael provided most of the runs.

Walliston Stapleton 4 for 56 was the pick of the Abuja bowlers, with Mourant Gould 2 for 21 and Colin Shoy 2 for 63 also among the wicket takers.

Shoy showed all-round ability hitting 34 to lead his team’s batting. Other contributions came from, Michael Joseph 32, Walliston Stapleton 23 and David Porter 22, but wrecked by Dale Michael 5 for 45 and Ronique Laborde 3 for 26, Ajuba One folded for 173 off 41.3 overs.

Peto Stars will have to wait on the other semifinal match between Troumaca United and Enforcers to know whom their opponents will be in the final.

Those two teams meet at Petit Bordel Sunday August 14.

Troumaca United beat Somerset on their way to the semis, while Enforcers disposed of Ajuba Two.

Eleven teams in two zones began the tournament in April.
