Tiny tot is Under-10 tennis champion

When the RBBT Junior Tennis Tournament winds up today Friday, a six-year-old boy will be in the spotlight.

The youth, John Anthony Thomas beat Roger Lou 9:7 to win the Under-10 version of the tournament. {{more}}

John has demonstrated natural talent from age two and coach Tony Boyea has been following the youngster’s progress and skills from early. John is the son of National Insurance Services Executive Director Reginald Thomas.

Other winners to be rewarded at today’s session include Fabrice George, who upset Daryl George 7:5, 6:3 to take the Boys Under-12 title.

Michelle GunMunro, who beat Danielle Cupid 6:7, 6:1, 6:0, won the Girls’ Under-14 title.

Roxanne Russell beat Danielle Cupid 6:4, 6:1 to take the Girls’ Under 16 title.

Justin GunMunro beat Agostini Soleyn 6:1 6:0, to capture the Boys’ Under-16 title.

Lerissa Morris maintained her dominance with a 7:6, 4:6, 6:1 to take the Girls’ Under-18 title.

Over 100 youngsters took part in the tournament whose final had been delayed owing to threats of inclement weather.
