Kids to learn more on safety at sea

St. Vincent Yacht Club has announced plans to offer training and instruction to boys and girls on the basics of sailing and safety at sea.

The club announced this junior sail- training programme recently, following the election of a new executive. This programme will be carried out with a new fleet of Optimist sailing dinghies, which are recognized as ideal for learning to sail.{{more}}

The club also announced that the St.Vincent Sailing Regatta would be reintroduced next year. This will feature classes for local, regional and international competitors.

This event, once a prestigious sailing regatta in the Caribbean promises to be different next year. The club is hoping to exploit its potential to give much exposure for local tourism. It said that the precise dates are still being worked out.

The executive elected is Commodore Richard Joachim, Vice Commodore Bob Haydock and Paddy Punnett.
