Ajuba, Young Strugglers match ends prematurely

The Disciplinary Committee of the Vinlec North Leeward Cricket tournament has a matter to contend with. That is as a result of an early end to last Sunday’s Ajuba One/Young strugglers match.

Young Strugglers, the whipping boys of this year’s competition, were perhaps on the verge on an upset victory. {{more}}

Troumaca Young Strugglers scored 142 all out off 22.2 overs. Edson Gordon 69 not out was the pillar of the innings.

Morant Gould 4 for 16 was the chief wicket taker for Ajuba One. They were 94 for 8 off 18.3 overs when a player given run out for backing up too far was not prepared to walk on the umpire’s decision during a match played at Troumaca Bay

Somerset defeated Cool Veterans by 8 wickets at Petit Bordel. Cool Veterans reached 181 for 8 off 30 overs, William Anthony 48 and Byron Lewis 33.

The total proved insufficient as Somerset, aided by poor catching and ground fielding, rattled 183 for 2 off 24 overs.

Hank Hall 56, Kelson Williams 53 both not out, supported by Orlando Charles 51 were the main run getters.

The competition has been suspended until June 18 to make way for North Leeward Carnival activities.

A meeting to review the competition will be held with captains and managers of participating teams June 8.
