D’Affairs aiming to recapture title in Leeward Cricket

D’Affairs, the 2004 Vinlec North Leeward cricket champions made some strides towards a title defense with back to back victories last weekend.

They beat Smokey by two wickets in a tense struggle last Sunday, to follow up an easy seven-wicket triumph over Rangers the day before. {{more}}

D’Affairs reached 161 for 8 off 22.3 overs in reply to Smokey’s 159 for 8 from 25 overs. The match was reduced owing to some showers. Smokey’s innings was solidified by a superb 81 not out by Keron Caesar. Rohan Edwards 34 was also among the runs.

Harley Skerritt, 30, was the leading run getter for D’Affairs on Sunday in an innings with Vivian Caesar 3 for 20 and Daron Louie 3 for 39 were among the wickets.

Skerritt 50 blazed the way to set his team on course for victory on Saturday. Rangers fell for 91 off 23.3 overs with Osmond Shallow 22 leading the batting. Cameron Charles 3 for 37 was the chief wicket taker for D’Affairs.

The race for quarterfinal places intensifies this Sunday with two matches. Enforcers and Ajuba Two will be locked in battle at Petit Bordel while Troumaca takes on Rangers at Troumaca Bay.
