Bobb hits English League

Vincentian leg spinning allrounder Alston Bobb will get a chance to improve his cricketing skills with a stint on the English circuit. Bobb will be lined up with the Paignton Cricket Club in the Devon Cricket League.

Bobb, from the North Central Windward village of Park Hill, has distinguished himself as one of the nation’s genuine sporting talents. A second year student at the Humanities Department at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies, Bobb is completing his degree in Linguistics. {{more}}

But he is a serious cricketer.

Bobb sees himself wearing West Indian colours, and he is working towards that achievement.

A left-hand leg spinner, Bobb is a batsman of high merit. He was a reserve named for the Windwards One-Day squad in 2003. He also represented St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the Red Stripe Bowl competition in 2002.

Through the years, Bobb has raised eyebrows with some decent and consistent performances.

He played for the Windwards at both Under 19 and Under 15 levels, having broken through on the national front.

Bobb owes a debt of gratitude for his English stint to Roland Butcher, Director of Sports at Cave Hill.

Bobb is enjoying his stint in cricket, and he is “hoping to get a good break this year.”

Bobb has recorded an exciting career thus far even though his advances in cricket may not be as rapid as he hoped. Bobb completed his ‘A’ Level at Combermere College in Barbados. He has roots at the Park Hill Government School and the Grammar School.

Bobb always blended his sporting and academic skills delicately.
