United Survivors lead Women’s cricket

United Survivors will be looking to maintain their lead in the Cavaliers National Women’s Cricket Competition this weekend. They shot to 16 points having disposed of Total Eye Care Rose Bank last Sunday at Petit Bordel.

Survivors reached 60 for 6 off 15. 5 overs to over haul the victory target of 59 made off 19.1 overs. {{more}}

Rosetta Williams 21 propelled her team to the victory having bagged 3 for 9.

Hughlette Codougan 2 for 8 and Joan Francois 2 for 9 were among the wickets for Rose Bank. United Survivors had easy points thanks to Police who failed to show up for the encounter at the Grammar School the previous day.

Survivors are followed by defending champs J.G. Tigress. They registered their third consecutive victory at the expense of Total Eye Care Rose Bank at Stubbs last Saturday.

J.G. Tigress scored 141 off 20 overs. Debbie Wilson 23 was the leading run getter. Hughlette Codougan 3 for 35 was the pick of the Rose Bank bowling.

They fell for 71, wrecked by Clea Hoyte 3 for 8 and Sherryann John 3 for 17.

However, J.G. Tigress shared points with Rangers owing to their rain-affected fixture at Buccament.

Garifuna Stars, powered by an excellent all-round performance by Cordelia Williams, secured a four-wicket win over Despers at Union on Saturday.

Williams hit 39 as her team achieved its victory target. They reached 132 for 6 off 21 overs. Wonderly Shallow 23 supported Williams with the bat, while Terisha Lavia-Bess 3 for 20 and Ultian Thomas 3 for 29 contributed with the ball. They combined to dismiss Despers for 131 from 23 overs. That served as a collapse, with Despers having squandered an opening stand of 76 between Judith Mapp 41 and Vanessa Shallow 28.

North Leeward beat Rangers by 28 runs to register their first win. They scored 129 all out in 33 overs, buoyed by Yoland Granderson 27 and Kayann Charles 23.

Avian King 5 for 23 was in ripping form in combination with Amanda Thorpe 3 for 32.

But Rangers’ batting failed and they fell for 101 off 24 overs. Sandra Samuel 4 for 31, Darren Chance 3 for 20 were the main wicket takers for North Leeward with Kayann Charles 2 for 12 putting a good all-round display.

North Leeward however, surrendered easy points to Garifuna Stars. North Leeward did not show up for their encounter at Grammar School on Sunday.

Grammar School was also the venue of a defaulted match on Saturday when Police failed to turn up for their encounter with United Survivors.

The matches Police against Despers, and Tigress against Rangers were affected by rain.

This weekend’s fixture sees United Survivors against North Leeward at Petit Bordel on Saturday at 12 noon, Despers against Rangers at Union, Total Eye Care Rose Bank versus Garifuna Stars at Buccament and J.G. Tigress in battle with Police at Grammar School.

Sunday’s cards feature JG Tigress and North Leeward at Petit Bordel from 10:30, Total Eye Care Rose Bank and Despers at Keartons, United Survivors and Rangers in battle at Grammar School, and Police clashing Garifuna Stars at Union.
