NEMWIL Hope back

NEMWIL Hope International can lay claim to have won the Premiership of the inaugural National Football League.

With two matches still on their schedule, Hope International, formalised their lien on the club’s first national title ,with a 3-0 win over Hot Spurs, last Wednesday.{{more}}

Vincent John, Rajendra Douglas and a spectacular long range shot from Hope’s midfield maestro, Collingham Delves, ensured a trip to the winners’ podium, for the ten year old outfit.

This win has pushed Hope to 34 points, from 14 matches, and an unassailable lead.

Their dominance is confirmed with aggregate of 31 goals, and conceding only 7.

This national title, means that the club has been in the limelight of every competition it has participated in, for the past decade ,except when it was booted out of the quarter final stage of the 1997 Pepsi Sion Hill Football League.

Hope, though then went on to record three consecutive titles in the premier division of that league, from 2000 -2002,to add to the others stashed away in the Arnos Vale League.

Regionally, Hope won the Caribbean Five A- Side competition ,held in St.Kitts in 2001.

Hope’s nearest rival in the premiership of the National League, St. Vincent Motors System 3, rests on 24 points, also with two matches still to be played.

Likely to dock in position number three, is 2004 National Club champions, Universal Mufflers Samba.

The race in the First Division of the League is similar, with long standing club, Pastures United, poised to be declared the first ever National Division One champions.

Merely academical, the remaining positions of both divisions will be determined in the next few weeks of competition of the league.

Also up for grabs are the titles of most goals. Lawerence Franklyn of Prospect United is likely to take this award in the Premiership, while Orlando Williams of TRAC is the runaway top marksman in the First Division.
