However, Rohan Thomas, a teacher at the C.W Prescod Primary School, won the award for the Best Sports Story. Thomas has distinguished himself with a series of exclusive publications in the Searchlight newspaper through which his scripts have appeared many times anonymously.

The other media man in the spotlight was Kenton Chance of the Vincentian who copped the Best Photograph award.

Other rewards, though not for media, saw groundsman Patrick John, getting the Kenneth Husbands Award from his former colleague at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

The Tennis Association was adjudged the Sports Association of the Year.
