The National Football League, despite its early hitches, is in full gear. After several weeks of competition, the League completed its first round, earlier this week.

A few teams have nosed ahead ,with the league at its midway stage. {{more}}

NEMWIL Hope International leads the pack in the Premier Division. The ten year old outfit has 20 points from their eight matches,having completed their first round fixtures.

Hope has won six of their matches,and drawing two. Universal Mufflers Samba, which topped last year’s Club Championship lie in second spot on 16 points.Stingers FC holds down the third spot on 14 points.

Prospect United on 14 points, and St.Vincent Motors System 3,on 12 complete the top five.

The second round of competition which is set to begin today, will see these teams trying to enhance their position in the standings. National Under-20,Buccament Bay Warriors, Hot Spurs, and Rose Place, in that order, complete the standings.

They will be looking to move up the improved performance in their next round.

Among the First Division entrants, Pastures ended the first round with 20 points, winning six matches and drawing two.

Three South Leeward teams-Parkside Rollers, Rocksdale and Chelsea are locked on 16 points.

However, Rollers edged out the others with the superior goal difference.Rocksdale and Chelsea ,come in third and fourth respectively.

The remainder of the pack sees TRAC,Cowdrey Village, English Spurs, Police and Sion Hill straggling.

The League thus far has been hit by forfeiting of matches.

In addition ,teams have been required to play back to back matches, and in some cases four matches in six days, due to the unavailability of grounds.

Started during the latter part of last year, the League which is sponsored by the St.Vincent Brewery is expected to end early March.

At present, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation has the use of the Sion Hill Playing Field until the end of February and unlimited use of the Campden Park Playing Field.
