Hank off to India on cricket training

Vincentian fast cricketer Hank Hall left the state today for India, thanks to the National Properties Limited and its Chairman Victor Hadley.

Hall was selected to attend the 2005 Dennis Lillee 10-day Fast Bowling clinic at the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai, India from January 17 to 26. {{more}}

Hall was given a set of cricket equipment by C.D. Veira Limited valued at EC$800 while the input by the National Properties Limited, which is a full sponsorship, is marked at EC$25,000. The package was handed over at the Singer Building in Kingstown last Tuesday.

The clinic is expected to cover fast bowling techniques, weight training, net practice, swimming sessions, yoga, fitness tests, running technique, video sessions, centre wicket practice and match simulation exercises.

Hank, who is currently being coached by former West Indies fast bowler Ian Allen, plays for national cricket champs Victors and is also a member of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Senior team. He played in the 2004 Windward Islands Cricket Tournament, held in St. Lucia in December and has also played for the Under-19 squad.

Hall, who was selected from among six other fast bowlers who were considered for the course, hails from Fitz Hughes in Chateaubelair and is the son of Ali and Eugena Hall. He was chosen for the course based on his performance in the Windward Islands Cricket Tournament held in St. Lucia last December.

Hall who said that he began playing cricket at age 10 at the Fitz Hughes park said that he is excited about the exercise. He added that the training should help him reach a higher level as he is hoping to one day soon play for the West Indies team. He returns home on January 27.
