Garry Sobers endorses Digicel

Cricket legend Sir Garfield Sobers isendorsing Digicel’s title sponsorship of West Indies cricket in a television advertising campaign being launched across the region this week.{{more}}

Digicel has said that the 30-second TV advertisement, shot in at the 3W’s Oval in Barbados, will see Sobers declaring that the future of West Indies cricket is in safe hands.

“They are not only developing West Indies cricket, they are developing the youngsters, the future of West Indies cricket. I think the future of West Indies cricket is in safe hands,” he concludes in the TV advertisement.

Digicel is investing more than US$1 million to sponsor select junior teams, developing elite cricket academics across the region with the WICB, and offering vital overseas scholarships for fast developing players.

Digicel Group CEO Raoul Fontanez saidhis company has deep respect for the sportand its social and cultural history in the Caribbean and is delighted that Sobers “the most esteemed name in the international cricket community” has endorsed the company’s sponsorship of West Indies cricket.
