Ball Dawgs grab basketball title

Bradford “Sick” Duncan has been named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the St. Vincent Electricity Services (VINLEC) National Men’s Basketball Zonal Club Championships.

The championships came to an end last Sunday (November 21st) with Duncan’s team, the Terrance Mc Barnette Bawl Dawgs, defeating Square Deal Shippers Calliaqua United, 87 to 78. {{more}}Calliaqua United had been undefeated during the last four years.

Besides being named Most Valuable Player in the Premiere Division of the tournament, Duncan also received accolades for being the MVP on his team. Duncan, who took the majority of the awards last Sunday, was also recognised for scoring the most points in the Premiere Division – a total of 352 points – and for scoring the most three pointers in the tournament: 34. He also received recognition for scoring the most points in any one game (54 points).

The team that scored the most points throughout the tournament was Square Deal Shippers Calliaqua United in the A Division. They scored 1100 points, while the winning team, the Terrance Mc Barnette Bawl Dawgs, had 907 points. Oral Roberts of Bawl Dawgs was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the finals.

Most points in the A Division went to Damian Ottley of Square Deal Shippers Calliaqua United (301), while Best Defensive Team in the A Division went to Eastsidaz with 734 scored against them. Playaz took the award for the Premier Division with 418 points against them.

Sion Hill Pacers Youths was adjudged Most Improved Team while the Most Disciplined Team went to Xpert Computer Centre Hairoun Hardcore.

Delberth Johnny was the Most Improved Player while Most Valuable Player in the A Division finals went to Damian Ottley of Calliaqua United.

The winner of Zone 1 in the A Division was General Marine Agency Deuce Boyz while the Winner of Zone 2 in the A Division was Square Deal Shippers Calliaqua United.

The Rookie of Tournament was Osborth Joseph.
