Teams battle for softball title

Four teams still have a chance of lifting the winners trophy in the National Lotteries Top Belair Softball Cricket Competition.

VINLEC Shot Callers meet Nice Radio Pine Hill Dairy Clinchers from

1 p.m. tomorrow at the Dauphine Playing Field in the first semi-final.

The other pits defending champions CGM Novice against

Troublesome Eleven from 1 p.m. on Sunday.

This match was set for last Sunday, but was rained out.

Shot Callers got to the semi-finals with a hard fought win over New Track Guys last weekend.

Lex Bute topscored with 33, as New Track Guys hit 106 in 18.1 overs.

Their demise was orchestrated by Terrance Patterson, who snared 6 for 22.

At 79 for 8, New Track Guys entertained thoughts of a semi-final berth, but that was not to be. Shot Callers tail enders rallied valiantly to reach 11 for 8. Raphael Patterson was his team’s highest scorer with 22.

Desmond Bramble, Keon Da Silva and Bute all took two wickets apiece.

Shot Callers semi-final opponents, Pine Hill Nice Radio Clinchers amassed 228 all out in 30 overs against Kelbourney Bangers.

Carlon John (36), Elmore Alexander (30) and Ricardo Horne (29) all contributed to their team’s total.

Bangers made a fight of it, but were stopped at 210 for 8 in their 30 allotment.

A power packed 98 from Stein Joseph threatened to swing the initiative to Bangers. Joseph’s innings included 9 sixes and 6 fours. He was supported by Bernard Bushay with 31. Stephen Fisher, 2 for 14, John, 2 for 42, and Holford Browne, 2 for 44, were the Clinchers’ main wicket takers. The finals and presentation ceremony are set for November 14.
