Top Belair Softball reaches semis
CGM Novice are two steps away from retaining the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Softball Cricket League title.
Novice face arch rivals Troublesome Eleven in what is expected to be an epic battle this Sunday from 2:00 pm.{{more}}
The defending champions gained their semifinal berth last weekend with a 33 run triumph over Hillside Rollers.
Powered by an unbeaten 76 from Windwardsâ allrounder Kenroy Martin, Novice reached 166 for 6 in 25 overs, then bowled Hillside Rollers out for 133 in 24.5 overs.
Only Maxton Hackshawâs 47 stood in the way, as Trevor Bute sliced through their batting, bagging 6 for 21.
It was easier though for Troublesome Eleven against Kingstown Hill United.
Collin Shoy topscored with 68, supported by Brenton Bute 37, in Troublesome XIâs total of 170 all out in 28 overs.
David Olliver, 4 for 36, and Karim Peters 2 for 13, were the Kingstown Hillâs main wicket takers. Extras contributed 60 as Kingstown Hill ended their innings at 121. Roderick John was the pick of the Troublesome XI bowling attack with 3 for 17.
Last weekend also saw the completion of two second round fixtures.
Pine Hill Dairy Nice Radio Clinchers advanced to the quarter final, at the expense of Vincom Nex Level.
In 22 overs, Clinchers posted 136 for 7, built around Carlon Johnâs 46 and Dill Clarkeâs 35.
All round sportsman Deptor Culzac, had figures of 2 for 30 for Nex Level.
Clarke, 3 for 31, and Holford Browne 3 for 18, conjured up to dismiss Nex Level for 108. Culzac having a good match scored 26, as did Marvin Harry.
Carib Pearl New Track Guys also made their way to the quarterfinals.
Pine Hill Sugar Corner Giants laboured to 101 in 18 overs.
This total proved inadequate for New Track Guys as they reached 102 for 2 in just 9.3 overs.
Veron Bute, who had earlier taken two wickets, contributed 35 and Lex Bute 25 not out, to give their team an easy passage.
New Track Guys and Vinlec Shot Callers will battle from 1:00 p.m. tomorrow, at the Dauphine Playing Field.
Clinchers will meet Kelbourney Rangers from 10:00 a.m. on Sunday in quarterfinal action.
